gleeBox– Browse The Web using your keyboard

gleeBox is a browser add-on for Firefox that allow you to takes a keyboard-centric approach to navigating the web. It provides alternatives to actions that are traditionally performed via the mouse such as clicking, scrolling, selecting text fields, etc. Some of these are radically more efficient than using a mouse, some not so much. The browser add-on is specially designed for keyboard and command line lovers.
gleeBox comes with a set of commands that allow you to traverse through different elements on a page, perform different types of actions on a page and supports commands from yubnub.org.
How to Set Up GleeBox
gleeBox is a really good browser add-on for keyboard junkie and loves the command line. the add-on currently available under experimental mode. it means Behavior might be unpredictable on pages that define their own keyboard shortcuts, gleeBox won’t search inside IFrames of a page and Some bookmarklets don’t work well as commands. After installing the browser add-on on your browser. you can easily launch gleeBox by using shortcut keyboard " G " (If you’re focused on an input field, press Alt+g (Option + g on Mac)).

When you enter any text, gleeBox will search for links on the current page whose text matches your query. If it finds any links, it will highlight them and you can scroll through them by pressing the TAB key. You can open a particular link by pressing ENTER.

If gleebox doesn’t find any links, when you press ENTER, it will either search the text on a search engine, or if you enter a string matching a URL, gleeBox will take you to that page. Another one feature is ?Scraper Commands, !Page Commands, :YubNub Commands and *jQuery Commands.
!Page Commands
These commands are used to take some action on the current page. Type in the command and press ENTER to execute.
Here is some !Page Commands:
- !read – Transform the page for a better reading experience using the Readability project
- !shorten – Shorten the URL of the current page using bit.ly.
- !tweet – Redirect to twitter.com with the URL of the current page in the text field.
- !rss – Open the current page’s RSS feed in Google Reader
- !share – Share the current page. Syntax:
!share service.Valid services are m(ail), g(mail), t(twitter), fb/facebook, digg, deli(cious) and su/stumbleupon. - !help – Open the manual (i.e. this page)
- !tipjar – open the Tipjar
- !options – Open the options page
- !set – Set gleeBox Options. – Syntax:
!set option-name=option-value. option name and there valid values.- Theme – { default, white, console, greener, ruby, glee }
- Position – { top, mid(dle), bottom }
- Size – { large, med(ium), small }
- Scroll – { on, off }
- bsearch – { on, off }
- !<Any Text> – Execute Matching Bookmarklet
?Scraper Commands
It allow user to select particular types of elements on the page. You can navigate the selected elements by using TAB key.
Here is some ?Scraper Commands :
- ?h – Select main (h1, h2 & h3) headings.
- ?img – Select linked images
- ?? – Select text input fields. Hit ENTER to give focus to the selected field.
- ?a – Select all links
:YubNub Commands
Syntax is :command where command is a YubNub command. List of YubNub commands is available at yubnub.org. While using this command, the dollar character ($) can be used to represent the URL of the current page.
Here is some :YubNub Commands :
- :fbshare $ – Share the current page on facebook
- :wp cricket – Search Wikipedia for cricket
- :tube elvis – Search YouTube videos for elvis words
- :site2pdf $ – Get a PDF for the current page
- :tw gleebox – Search twitter for gleebox. you can use any word to search twiiter instead of gleebox.
*jQuery Commands
Syntax is *selector where selector is a jQuery selector. Hitting ENTER will navigate across all elements that match the jQuery selector specified.
Here is some *jQuery Commands:
- *a – For All Links
- *h3,h4,h5 – h3, h4 and h5 headers
- *textarea – Text areas in the page
- ** - Do not try this at home
